K-9 Rescue Remedy exists solely to help the owners of rescue dogs rehabilitate their dogs. We are currently unable to work with non-rescues on the same basis; although trainers may agree to help non-rescue dog owners on a one-to-one private session from time to time, in exceptional circumstances.
K-9 Rescue Remedy will support the owners of rescue dogs and teach them how to manage their dog's behaviour. It isn't always easy and there is seldom any quick fix, but if you are a genuine dog owner and you love your dog, we will support you for as long as you need us.
We meet on Sunday mornings (during school term times) at Sedlescombe Village Hall, Church Hill, Sedlescombe, Near Battle, East Sussex, TN33 0QP. The sessions are as follows:
Silver Class 9.15 - 10.30am
Silver/Bronze Class 10.30 - 11.30am
Gold/Platinum Class 11.30 - 12.30pm
Bronze Class 12.30 - 1.30pm
We appreciate any help that can be given for setting up the hall in the morning before the first class and clearing up after the final class has ended.
We follow the curriculum for the Kennel Club Good Citizens Award Schemes for the bronze, silver and gold.
There are strict rules regarding the behaviour of owners belonging to the club which must be adhered to - and you will be required to sign a contract stating you will do so if you want to join. Dogs remain the responsibility of their owners at all times.
Owners must bring a 'bum-bag' to carry essential items such as dog treats and poo bags. Hands must be free to work with the dogs, so no handbags should be carried and flat, protective footwear should be worn whenever attending training sessions.
Check chains and prong collars are not allowed, neither are harsh physical treatments of the dogs. Positive reinforcement is to be used at all times. Harsh training methods will be reported to the RSPCA immediately.
Annual Membership for participating owners costs £12 per year
Associate Membership for talks and special events costs £6 per year
A course of six lessons costs £42
Emergency Assessments outside of Sunday mornings cost £50 plus additional travelling costs for more than 20 miles from Sedlescombe.
